A successful installation of the akenza Building Edge

In collaboration with Comsys Bärtsch AG, a Swiss expert in building and industrial automation, we have successfully deployed the akenza Building Edge at a building in Zurich. This achievement marks a crucial step toward more intelligent and connected buildings, providing operators with a data-driven view of their facilities.

A seamless integration of IoT and BMS data

Building Management Systems (BMS) are essential for monitoring and controlling building operations, but their data is often siloed. The akenza Building Edge allows operators to move beyond isolated systems and fragmented data to achieve a holistic view of their facilities.

How does it work? The akenza Building Edge retrieves data from the BMS, such as temperature, energy consumption, HVAC performance, and occupancy levels, and reflects this information as a device within the akenza platform. 

The building edge is based on the broadly used Niagara framework and supports various standard building protocols like KNX, BACnet, or Modbus. This makes it possible to connect it to numerous BMS. Building operators can then easily select which data points from the BMS they want to have available in the cloud.

The akenza plugin on Niagara makes it easy for integrators to send data to akenza. 

By merging IoT and BMS data in one place, facility managers gain unified access to monitor and analyze building performance. This approach improves operational efficiency by making critical data available where it is needed.
