The Things Conference 2023 recap
Julie Sylvest
akenza attended The Things Conference 2023.
From September 21 to September 23, Amsterdam was calling. The annual The Things Conference took place and akenza was a proud sponsor. That’s why Jonas Schmid (Co-CEO), Marius Giger (Head of Software), and Valentin Keller (IoT Solutions Engineer) attended and took it all in. Here is our recap.
Acknowledged as the flagship event of LoRaWAN® and Low Power Internet of Things, it was an immersive experience. With over 1500 top IoT professionals, 70+ leading industry players, and a chance to learn from 90+ curated keynotes and 20+ workshops, the event was a testament to the growing significance of LoRaWAN in the IoT landscape.
What stood out at the event for us:
Networking:
The conference was the epicenter of all things LoRAWAN. It provided an unparalleled platform to mingle with industry experts and get a pulse on the latest trends and developments.

Learning:
The event was a reservoir of knowledge. From the 90+ keynotes to the 20+ hands-on workshops, attendees were spoilt for choice when it came to understanding the latest developments in the LPWAN market.
One of the workshops that highly resonated with us was the "Kerlink Zero Touch Provisioning" led by Yann Bauduin and Julien Catalano.
Representing akenza:
Our booth at the event garnered significant attention. In countless talks with visitors, we enjoyed presenting our newest features and talking about the many use cases of our solution. But that was not all that was happening at our booth:
For example, we brought the Kuando Busylight, a customized signaling light for LoRaWAN, and demoed it with the akenza platform.
Jonas added a fun twist to our presence at the conference. He carried around a Seeed SenseCAP T1000 LoRaWAN location tracker throughout the event. We even posted a LinkedIn update with a link to a public dashboard, allowing people to track Jonas in real time during the conference.

In conclusion:
The Things Conference provided a whirlwind of insights, networking, and a deep dive into the future of the IoT industry, especially concerning LoRaWAN. The knowledge and connections we've acquired will play a pivotal role in our upcoming projects and collaborations.
