Analyzing current office utilization at CSS

Julie Sylvest

CSS, a Swiss health insurance company based in Luzern, is optimizing its office space through a pilot project powered by the akenza platform. By collecting occupancy and people flow data, this initiative provides insights into current office usage while also informing the design of its new campus, set to open in five years.

With precise analytics, CSS aims to optimize meeting rooms, desks, and shared spaces, ensuring they align with the evolving needs of its workforce.

Connecting the CSS office to the cloud

To understand office space utilization, CSS has strategically deployed a network of IoT sensors throughout the office. ELSYS sensors, positioned on desks and in meeting rooms, monitor occupancy levels to reveal desk occupancy trends and meeting room utilization. XOVIS sensors track people flow, providing a detailed view of the number of people in strategic areas. All data is securely transmitted and handled in compliance with data protection standards.

The collected data is integrated into the akenza platform, which offers various visualization options. The Dashboard Builder provides a 3D floorplan that illustrates the office layout with real-time and historical occupancy data. Additionally, the data can be analyzed through third-party applications such as Power BI, offering insights into workspace trends and optimization opportunities.

The implementation of IoT technology offers CSS a wealth of insights to create a workplace that is both dynamic and adaptable.
